I’m stuck in life, without a job, with student loans, and truly cannot function. I’m a burden to my Mother and I’m truly depressed. I need your prayers.

I went to mass last week and was scolded by the priest for kneeling to receive communion. I’ve felt numb ever since and can’t find the strength to pray from the heart. 😦

Thank you for prayers. I know I can cry and not feel ashamed here.

It’s going to be ok. You’ll get through this with Jesus’ help. Go to the Church for 30 minutes a day and tell Jesus about your problems. Also thank him, love him, ask forgiveness, and ask good things for yourself. Try it for a week, 30 minutes a day. You will be healed by Jesus! Try it, he really will do this for you!

It’s truly amazing how much healing you’ll receive if you simply go and talk to Jesus, in the church, every day!

A prayer against depression

O Christ Jesus
When all is darkness
And we feel our weakness and helplessness,
Give us the sense of Your Presence,
Your Love and Your Strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
In Your protecting love
And strengthening power,
So that nothing may frighten or worry us,
For, living close to You,
We shall see Your Hand,
Your Purpose, Your Will through all things.

By St. Ignatius of Loyola

Prayer of St. Dymphna

Lord, our God, you graciously chose St. Dymphna as patroness of those afflicted with mental, emotional, and nervous disorders. She is thus an inspiration and a symbol of charity to the thousands who ask her intercession.

Please grant, Lord, through the prayers of this pure youthful martyr, relief and consolation to all suffering such trials, and especially those for JesusxInfinity, for whom we pray.

We beg you, Lord, to hear the prayers of St. Dymphna on his behalf. Grant all those for whom we pray patience in their sufferings and resignation to your divine will.

Please fill them with hope, and grant them the relief and cure they so desire.
We ask this through Christ our Lord who suffered agony in the garden. Amen.

Prayer to St. Anthony for a Job

Blessed St. Anthony, who in life was ever mindful of the needs of the afflicted, consuming himself in the service of God and for the good of souls, who was the enemy of idleness and a tireless worker in the vineyard of the Lord, beseech God to grant JesusxInfinity a suitable job, which may procure for him and his loved ones a decent livelihood, and be at the same time a means of personal sanctification and of real service to others. Amen.

:hug1:

I’m sorry that you’ve been suffering so much.

Gosh! What a time you’re having! It must have felt like “salt in a wound”, kicking you when you were already down. Well, it’s rough when we don’t feel supported even at Church, where we should be able to go for support. Must be sad and scary.

Yeah, I’ve been going through a dry period with prayer, myself. For a years, I was able to pray quite well and of late, I’ve also felt like I just can’t. Maybe it’s like a “dark night of the soul”. As I’ve said, I too, am having a heck of a time praying, but for you, I’ll try.

In the meantime, till there is resolution, If you are able to do this, you might consider trying to offer up your sufferings to God.

Glad you felt you could come here for support. I hope the people on CAF will be nice to you, because you don’t need any more digs after what you’ve just been through.

Things will get better. Perhaps volunteering can help you acquire contacts and refine skills needed in a job search. It will get you out of the house and complete your prayers with acts of mercy. Too often we, all, forget the words of st. James, “So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.”

L will say a prayer for you. Let us know how things are going. During depression we often feel that no one cares, this is one place where many, though they don’t know you personally, still care for you. Finally, turn to our blessed Mother, I have found her a great comfort in periods of depression.

Ignore the priest! We should all be on our knees before Jesus. Good and wise advice from posts suggesting time in church silent before Jesus. You would be amazed at how refreshed you will feel. Student loans means study. Study means success. Success means a good retirement for mum. Don’t get down, depression is a common problem in today’s world. You have youth and good health, you need no more.

Do not let the incident with the priest get to you, but please do forgive him.

Remembering you in my daily prayers. God bless :console:

Prayer in Time of Aridity

Heavenly Father, I am enmeshed in a time of spiritual aridity. You seem so far removed from me, and I cannot even pray. I am deprived of all sensible consolations which facilitate prayer and the practice of the virtues. Yet I want to pray and I want to remain close to You.
Let me realize the truth of the well-known axiom: when we think God is furthest away from us, that is when He is closest to us.
Make me increase my efforts at prayer even if I feel they are useless.
Keep me from being discouraged and help me remain united with You.
Grant that I may regain my love for prayer and grow in my relationship with You, your Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

†

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Prayer to St. Joseph for the Unemployed

O Saint Joseph, we pray to you for those who are out of work, for those who want to earn their living or support their families.

You who are the patron of workers; grant that unemployment may vanish from our ranks; that all those who are ready to work may put their strength and abilities in serving their fellowmen and earn a just salary.

You are the patron of families; do not let those who have children to support and raise lack the necessary means. Have pity on our brothers and sisters held down in unemployment and poverty because of sickness or social disorders. Help our political leaders and captains of industry find new and just solutions. May each and every one have the joy of contributing, according to his abilities, to the common prosperity by an honorable livelihood. Grant that we may all share together in the abundant goods God has given us and that we may help underprivileged countries. Amen.

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death. Amen.

Thank you so much for your prayers! 👋

Thank you Father Jones for your encouragement. I have visited the Blessed Sacrament often in the last 3 weeks and never want to leave! ❤️ But somehow, this despair came over me and it was difficult.

Njlisa: Thank you so much for the specific prayers. I went ahead prayed all of your submissions. They really helped.

ClearWater: I’ve prayed for you as well. I really appreciated it. Only thing that does scare me is not feeling God’s presence. I’ve just returned to the Church last year and getting to know Jesus more intimately, feeling the dryness is too daunting. I’ve written some answered prayers (yes, no, wait), along with the God winks. Sometimes it helps to remember when God was near me.

Origen52: I loved your St. James quote. It does resonate with me. Also, I’m happy to say I was just hired as a temp for a middle school. That’ll keep me busy.

Petaro: Thank you for the kind words 🙂 Visiting the Blessed Sacrament has helped me. I hope to continue as often as possible.

UpUpAndAway Thank you for your prayers. Yes, I’ve learned to pray for priests. Somehow, this has taught me to look for my own faults. To remedy hurts towards other people and to ask for forgiveness.

Wild Thing: Thank you for your prayers.

Pollylodges Thank you for your prayers.

Tawny Thank you for your prayers

244Rocket Thank you for your prayers

Brigid12: Thank you for your prayers

To all of you. May the God Lord look upon you and smile always. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. This weekend was rough but now I’m gradually moving forward 🙂
