There is always something more to learn from an organization that has lasted for 2009 years
Great point, the older, the better!

Think of what you could learn from converting to Hinduism, it’s even older than Judaism!

think of you can learn from God. who knows all. He is before all. He created all men. He is, He is, and He still is.

Hi,
I’ve “been there, done that”, my sister in the Lord! It’s cool… whatever brings you closer to Jesus! I myself was raised Catholic, and came to know Jesus personally during my childhood. I was Catholic for most of my 20s, but during that time, began listening to a lot of Protestant teachings, including their “teachings” on Catholicism.

I went back and forth throughout my life since then, but for me, I never had any issues with the Catholic church at all, and looking back now in my upper 40’s, I seriously ask myself why I ever even left it at all.

Many of the non-Catholic churches are fine, too, but for me, they get real stale pretty fast. Without the Eucharist, they are just never the same.

I know many of those types of churches (which I’ve been and am involved in) claim to be oh, so “Biblical accurate”. This is great, but, consider this fact: it was the Catholic church that canonized scripture to begin with! In other words, they were the assemblers of the Bible, determining which books are scripture, and which are not. The other thing you might want to think about along these lines is Jesus said during the Last Supper in the original Greek: “This IS My body”, He didn’t say, “this Represents My body”, although many non-Catholic churches that are supposedly “Biblical accurate” claim this.

In the final analysis, it’s whatever brings a soul closer to Christ, regardless of doctrine! When I “left” (it wasn’t so much a leaving as it was going to other churches) I felt and believed I could get closer to Jesus there, and probably did then. However, I was always drawn back eventually, and currently am heavily into Eucharistic Adoration where I get really filled with the presence of Jesus.

Each to their own, in my opionion. Stick close to Jesus, seek His guidance, and he will lead you.

I wish you well!

Blessings,

sp

I kind of wish people would stop responding to this thread because everytime I see it bumped back to the top I can’t help but feel hopeful that Alison has come back…

😦

Perhaps every time we see it bumped, it may remind us to pray for her.

Right on, I believe you have something there. I know that many times various people come
to my mind, usually for no concrete reason. I usually say a prayer for them, especially when they are my children. So far, I have found that there was a serious reason and that
prayer was needed. In one case, I was wakened in the middle of the night and immediately thought of a daughter. I prayed. Months later I found that that same night,
she had been in serious physical danger. She survived and told me of the incident many
months later after I said something to the effect that sometimes one or the other of the
kids came to my mind and I prayed, including her (I remembered because of the middle
of the night thing). She asked me when it was and when I told her, she turned white and
told me the whole story.
So even if Alison is not coming to the forums, maybe she will feel the grace and peace of
the prayers being sent her way. Her story had really touched me.
Now, please know that I pray for my children everyday and for others, too, but these
incidents have been special and out of the ordinary “nudges” to pray especially for
whatever is needed at that time.

Sometimes I think of people I haven’t thought of in years. But one sad experience was I thought of someone who just popped into my head and I happened to ask an old friend who also I hadn’t spoken to in awhile and she told me the next time that happens to say a prayer for that person. She then proceeded to tell me that that person had just recently committed suicide.

OR… maybe it will help her to come back! I didn’t realize it was so old until after I posted it.
