I'm Not Being Fed - Jeff Cavins cd

SSPX – Society of St. Pius X: Heretical group of Catholics who believe that the Papacy has been vacant since, oh, I don’t know, but, basically they are the ones who believe that the Mass should ONLY be in Latin.

Anyway, I did not use my CCC extensively until just this year, and, even then, not so much. How would I know to look there, too, if it wasn’t for this forum?

The point I am trying to make is, if I wanted to read the Bible myself and NOT hear it & everything the church teaches, I could have remained Protestant. One of the less official reasons that I like the Catholic Church, is BECAUSE I do not have to rely on myself or my readings. I HATED when somebody would tell me, ‘Go read this book for more info.’ UGH!! NO!! I want to be told the basis so I get the jist, first. BUT, even as I am reading what you have just posted, I can understand all that & that does make sense & I try to do all that, BUT, how does one know what one is being fed, if one doesn’t know the truth & what NOT to look for when it all can be twisted?

“Not being fed” is a VERY serious thing. I think a lot of “Catholics” truly don’t understand how very unCatholic they are because they never get to hear it & those behind the pulpit give them the excuses they need.

(1)…One knows one is being fed by 1 John 5: 7,
"Thus there three that testify, The Spirit and the water and the blood— and these three are of one accord."

The Spirit (if you welcome him) will convince you as you are fed, to give THANKS.

the water is your baptism. learn to appreciate it by practice, TO REST IN YOUR BAPTISM, as you would rest in Noah’s Ark during the flood. as you would rest in Christ’s death after being received inside Him just before He died. or during Communion.

The Blood and His flesh are OFFERED to you in the Eucharistic Liturgy…for the forgiveness of your sins.
Love The Eucharist (his flesh and blood) like you Love The Truth, with all your heart, soul, mind, and strenght.

(2)…If you WANT TO KNOW the Truth…that is a proof that God is already “drawing you” (Jn. 6: 44, 65)
now COMMIT to Love the Truth at any cost…because of 2 Thess. 2: 10 - 12…after that The Spirit, being the Spirit of Truth, will guide you into ALL THE TRUTH.
and Love will make you “unhappy with evil”. 1Cor. 13: 6

(3)…The Gift of DISCERNMENT Will be opened up in you…as per Eph. 1: 18… which will also enable you to walk in the Spirit.
Rom. 8: 14**“All who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.”**

(1)…Remain connected to the Eucharist, and the Scriptures read in the Liturgy.

(2)… Rest IN YOUR BAPTISM… always, everywhere.

(3)…Be always ready to discern the promptings of The Holy Spirit
and Love the Holy Spirit same as you Love Jesus.
Because it is His very person.

Take a step into The way of prayer…2663 in your Catechism.
Ask the Holy Spirit for a “prayer language”.

every parish I have belonged to for the last 30 years has offered a multiplicity of good adult faith formation and bible study classes, prayer groups, faith sharing communities, retreats, days of recollection, parish missions, catechism classes and other opportunities beyond the homily and Mass readings for instruction and spiritual growth. Participation would be considered outstanding if 100 people out of 2-3000 adults in the parish attended.

“I am not being fed.”
“I wish we had bible studies or Sunday school like the Protestants.”
these are excuses, not reasons for leaving the Church.

That’s enough for some, who know their faith and love it, but if you try to explain things to people who “aren’t being fed”, they’ll just say “so what?” (I know- I’ve tried- it doesn’t work). Philosophy and theology are enough for those who are interested in them, but it often doesn’t cut it for others- many people couldn’t care less what a document written halfway around the world says, or what people from other times and places have said. People go to Mass at various times and don’t get to know people, they go into Mass right before the priest, they’re out to their cars by the time the closing hymn is done, they never talk to the people they sit next to week after week, the music is bad, the only thing there is to do in the parish is the altar society and Knights of Columbus (which are great, but all too often there is no real spiritual discussions in these groups, and as it is they never meet more often than once every two weeks). This is reality!

Lack of time is certainly not the problem- because the local evangelical/fundamentalist church has church sunday morning for 2 1/2 hours and Sunday evening for one hour, and wednesday nights for one hour, with a bible study for one or two hours on one other day during the week, and often some other social event (usually with a sunday school class) at least once a month- on Saturday or Sunday afternoons or something like that. People who go there certainly have time- there is no room for excuses- Catholics should take the time to do more things like that.

Amen. THAT’S what I’ve been TRYING to TELL people.

gusano, the thing is, WHY should I have to read my Bible for the fullness of faith/truth? Isn’t that why I go to church? Besides, it’s easy to twist the words around as well as get a good feeling, but, that’s not the point of being a believing Catholic. Also, it’s not my responsibility to check out everything a priest says. If he says that we have a bare cross rather than a crucifix because Jesus is in Heaven, and another downplaying the sacrement of Confession so much so that, to the best of my knowledge, NOBODY made their first confession before their first Communion in my RCIA class, and one doesn’t know of the CCC, how would one know that something is wrong?

Fortunately, I am not going to a church like this anymore; but, I used to. I feel sorry for those people who still go there. It is really sad that the Catholic Church has so much, and so much of it isn’t known because of careless priests.

I just listened to the Jeff Cavins cd titled *‘I’m Not Being Fed - The #1 Catholic eating disorder’. * I’ve heard this complaint of ‘not being fed’ by several people in my parish and several ex-Catholics, so the title intrigued me. It is an amazing cd! I would rank it right up there with Fr. Larry’s ‘The Mass Explained’ - perhaps even higher. I haven’t seen this cd discussed on this forum so I thought I would recommend it.

Careless priests, and careless Parishoners…
On the day of judgment we will all be held accountable for every unguarded word we speak…Matt. 12: 36

I would say; Read your bible as Jesus guides you on a personal unveiling of His Heart to you…and that is not because
you HAVE TO… but because He has planted a burning desire in your heart to.

I like what was given to me, so now I will give it to you:

"…The ancient ruins shall be rebuilt for your sake, and the foundations from ages past YOU shall raise up;
“REPAIRER OF THE BREACH” , they shall call YOU, restorer of ruined homesteads." Isa.58: 12

If you are willing to be used by The Lord…as a “Restorer of the BREACH”… you and I can not fix everything, but He brings “broken windows” to us that we can fix by His guidance

Sort of like the boy who was seen throwing star-fishes, one-by-one, back into the ocean.

If you could persuade one “luke-warm” or “cold” catholic into the Fire that Jesus wants for us (Luke 12: 49)…
say, …once a month, more-or-less…Would you be excited ? 😃

I encourage you to think honestly / prayerfully about the possibility of you being a "Restorer of the Breach."

Ask Jesus; “What do you want me to do ?”

Did we exhaust all that God has for our feeding ?

or did everyone become “enkindled with the fire” Jesus wants to ignite in us all… and become Catholic Evangelists ?

I hope it is because of "The Fire…"
