And I am feeling really upset. My daughter is only 4 months old. It was my intention to space my 2nd child out until DD was at least a year old.

My husband says he is happy…which I should be too. But I cant help but feel so, so sad and that makes me feel even more horrible.

Please pray for me and help me understand that this is God’s will and I should embrace the situation.

First, congratulations! I can understand why you might not be jumping for joy quite yet, most-likely being sleep deprived and overwhelmed with a newborn. However, just remember that this new life is a gift from God! Give yourself some time to adjust, pray for peace and understanding and trust in God’s plan, and you’ll be just fine.

Come join us in the Pregnant Mamas thread in the Parenting section if you’d like. There are lots of great ladies there always willing to pray and offer encouragement for each other. May God continue to bless you and your family! :hug1:

**Not every woman has to jump up and down for joy at the good news of finding out she’s pregnant! It is ok to be sad and feel overwhelmed. Your other baby is only 4 months old! But by the time this new baby is ready to make his or her appearance your other child won’t be a little baby anymore… you have some time to prepare and get used to the idea. Who knows, it may be one of those things you look back on and go “wow, sure glad God planned it that way because I sure wouldn’t have and it turned out to be perfect for our family”. Take comfort in knowing that your husband is happy (many wouldn’t be) and have him hold you up right now. That is what spouses do, right?

And congrats on your pregnancy!!! **

:hug1: Awww…you sound like a wonderful mommy who just has a lot on her plate right now. DH and I would so love to have a baby, but even I would need some time to get used to being pregnant again just 4 months after giving birth! :hug1:

I second Feanaro’s Wife’s suggestion to visit the Pregnant Mamas thread. You’ll find lots of support throughout your next 8-9 months on there. And I’m sure the ladies will be so happy for you to bump them up on the due date list! 🙂

:console: It’ll be okay! I promise!

I have “babies” that are less than a year apart. I remember being a bit embarressed to tell people. Some were quite shocked when they found out! Now that they are 9 and 10, I have to say its my favorite spacing of babies! The older one was too young to realize she was no longer the baby. When I needed to change diapers, I’d just lay them both down on the bed to change. I remember a lot of rocking with both arms full, and since nethier could walk when the younger one was born, I had some great looking arm muscles! 😛 🙂

They are now the best of friends and love the days that they are the same age. The toughest year was the first, but we made it through. You will too.

God bless you! St Gerard pray for us!

Ditto this, although my first two are only 5 and 4. They are so close (even though they are as different as night and day) and it was somewhat easier than when my youngest came along when my middle DS was about to turn 3 b/c we were already in “baby mode”. I agree that the first year is the hardest. Mine aren’t less than a year apart but they are a year and 4 days apart.

Congratulations and may you have a happy, healthy pregnancy! 🙂

I got pregnant with #2 when #1 was five months old. Then I got pregnant with #3 when #2 was six months old. :juggle:

I know you’re feeling totally overwhelmed right now. Take a deep breath, cry a little, take a long walk, whatever you need to do.

Just keep in mind-- if God has seen fit to throw you a little challenge like this, He will also provide the grace to see you through it. I promise. He is never, ever outdone in generosity.

Hang in there! You can do this!

Margaret

It’s ok to feel upset. God’s plans are seldom our plans.
Pamper yourself a bit and let husband dote on you. Enjoy your 4 month old right now.

Oh! I would probably feel the same! My older brother and sister are only TWO months apart! Being pregnant, I’m always wondering if I’d even be in the “mood” so to speak that soon after birth (but what do I know?) 🙂

Your body is probably still getting used to having a new baby, so I can onlly imagine that it’s hard for you!

Hopefully you will have time to let this sink in and enjoy raising the children so closely in age. I always thought it was neat that my older siblings were almost like twins!!!

Good luck and prayers for strength are with you!!

Umm…may I ask how you have a brother and sister that are only 2 months apart in age?

I think she meant two months from the birth of one to the conception of the other… can’t see any other way it would be possible:shrug:

WHOOPS! Sorry, I did mean my brother was conceived only two months after my sister was born 🙂

Also had a typo for only - another whoops 🙂

I once read about a lady who was pregnant with twins, and one of the twins was in danger and they delivered it by c-section and left the other in the uterus to come to term! Extremely risky, but it worked, and both babies survived. Poor lady–that must have been a nightmare!

Hey I can understand!
Always think positive and leave everything to GOD… He is the All-Doer!
Congratulations and keep up the good spirits!

I was pregnant with my 4th when my 3rd was 6 months old. It was overwhelming, to say the least. My husband also was happy about it much faster than I was. Not that I was unhappy…just overwhelmed…like I said. The good thing is, you have many months for the idea to sink in. Having an infant will really make the pregnancy seem to go buy faster and you won’t dwell on every little thing like you did with your first…you’ll be too busy caring for the baby you already have. For me, the hardest part about adding a new baby to the family, is leaving my “old babies” while I’m in the hospital.

And, YES! You will love the second one as much as the first! Hard to believe, huh?
