Pope Francis recently mentioned that God never gets tired of forgiving us, we get tired of asking Him. Dont worry, nothing can drive you from God if you dont want it to. Just turn to Him when youre feeling depressed, and dont ever feel ashamed of asking for forgiveness, because God is ALWAYS there with mercy and love for you.

Try not to be too hard on yourself. We all go through struggles and temptations, and we all fall sometimes. Dont hate yourself for it, thats giving in to despair. Just do the best you can in the situation youre in and leave the rest to God.

I’ll pray for you, hope you feel better 🙂

Your in the developing years. The Lord knows this. Stop beating yourself up for being human first. Understand the physical nature of your body and realise its just that. Its difficult to avoid the in your face sexuality that is promoted in society, that to the Lord knows. All I can suggest is that you go to church and get involved in their youth groups.
Sex addictions are like any other, you just transferred one addiction to another. You got to get to the root of the situation, as the addictions are just the symptom to an underlying unresolved or subconscious memory or irrational belief, or its as simple as understand the human body and how and why if reacts the way it does. Its called growing up. Getting with positive role models is good to help rein the beast, our flesh. Give G-d your spirit. He is not a G-d of imposing guilt rather he is all understanding ,loving and compassionate. We all need to be nurtured and to understand the me, myself and I.
Hiding away won’t solve it, nor will denying you are developing. Get into sports, something creative. Use the mind that is between your ears versus the one in your belly. Also you can go volunteer at an aids clinic and help others. If you really want to control it, understand it. I struggle with smoking but I had worse addictions like, selfishness, resentment, insecurities, yadda , yadda.
As far as being alone, well its a good time to get to know the trinity within yourself…the me, the myself and the I. Know yourself and you will know everyone. Observe listen and pray, God bless you, from one sinner to another.

  1. You do not lose bad habits in a day, let alone addictions.
  2. You don’t break bad habits, except by replacing them with better ones.
  3. Becoming a saint is not going to put you in a place where you stop struggling with sin in this vale of tears. Rather, like the athlete who gets to a higher and higher level of performance but never becomes perfect, you will progress as athlete does: you’ll look for practice, you’ll try to keep yourself as much as possible in situations that won’t tempt you out of your training program, you’ll put yourself under the tutelage of someone who will give you regular guidance, and you’ll let your love of your goal nourish you and sustain you through the frustrations of not having reached it yet and the sacrifices that will get you there.
You cannot live a good life simply by hating sin, any more than you can become a good athlete by hating mistakes instead of by loving your sport. You must be sustained by loving God and having gratitude for God’s goodness, which includes God’s mercy. You must be sustained by loving your neighbors, both those who seem so much farther along than you and those who seem less advanced or, for today anyway, perhaps less successful or dedicated than you are.

How do you ever give up this habit you have? You might try looking at the 12 Steps for some guidance…starting with admitting that you do not have the power to overcome sin on your own, and you never will. It is an iterative process, just like staying clean and sober from other things.

These are things you learn as you go along, just like other things you have mastered in your lifetime. Hang in there!

I’m not sure if this will be found helpful to you, but since I struggle greatly with the same kind of sin, I can tell you what helps me. I find when I have engaged myself in thought regarding scripture, in effort to better understand, I have a decreased desire to sin. This may be through reading of scripture or books of a similar nature (currently reading Life of Christ - and I wholeheartedly recommend if you have the time and conviction, since it’s both long and thorough). Having found other people with which to share my faith has also done a lot for me.

As Catholics, or Christians in general, we are a community of believers. The amazing thing about us is our ability to support each other. While forums on this support can help, if you are able to find people in your local area then I truly believe that would be an immense help.

Never be afraid to acknowledge your sin. I have done many things I am not proud of, and I’m betting I’m not alone in that. It is not our ability to live a sin free life that merits God’s mercy. It is our effort to follow Him, no matter how many times we stumble.

Hey Changedman, i’m around your age too. Alot of us struggle with this issue, I would suggest hanging a crucifix in the bedroom/shower/bathroom wherever you may be tempted and perhaps wear a rosary wround the wrist of your dominant hand. If you really don’t trust yourself, use some internet filters 🙂
