Congratulations!

Ask God what He wants you to do!
Remember that praying for others is a great job!

we have been “retired” for 5 years, and are busier than ever, both of us work at least PT, both involved heavily in church work, plus DH runs a softball league, bridge club, golf league and homeowners assn. Winter Texans, our compadres, are the busiest people around, an essential part of the Valley economy, and behind an immense amount of charitable work, here and over the border, including building homes for the poor, supporting an orphanage, collecting and distributing food, clothing and toys, tutoring children and ESL adults, mentoring troubled youth, prison ministry, and all types of church work.

Congratulations! My dad retired about three years ago…his reason…so that he could “keep” my son! Yes, my parents are wonderful babysitters!

Anyway, remember the saying…YOU REST, YOU RUST!

BTW, an abortion clinic always needs a few people outside ready to help young women choose life!

Congratulations! I have always imagined that my ideal retirement volunteer job would be handing out doughnuts at the Red Cross blood center. The older people that do that job always seem so happy. Plus if you like to talk to people, it’s a great way to fulfill that social need.

I’ll bet the parish could use your time and talents…give 'em a call…and remember, pray pray pray for guidance.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We have a county thing called Meals on Wheels. They take hot meals to elderly and homebound people at their homes. They are always crying for volunteers. That’s one possibility. I’ll pray and ask for guidance.

Daily Mass, for sure, if you’re not doing that already. And plenty of study and lectio divina.

Congrats!

Enjoy your time. May be pick up a hobby. Like many have suggested help on the church ( My Dad does this - actually serving for funeral masses)
