A practical tip-

If you are receiving on the tongue, I would practice first. We had a practice session with unconsecrated hosts and it helped to put my mind at ease. I was worried about “doing it right,” opening my mouth the right way, etc. If your parish isn’t going to do a practice session, maybe get some nilla wafers or small cookies and practice on your own with a friend.

If you’re receiving in the hand, then I really don’t think you need to practice because it is easier.

welcome home

Thank you and i am receiving on the tongue!! 🙂

Also, if you are receiving both the Body and the Blood, if you have never had wine before, and can taste some, it would probably be a good idea. This was something our Family RCIA director recommended to all the parents when my son received his sacraments a couple of years ago. They do that with anyone receiving First Eucharist, that way the kids aren’t expecting the Precious Blood to taste like grape juice.😃

Hi and welcome home! 🙂

I think your love and zeal for our Lord is preparation enough. Know that the love and longing you experience for Jesus in the Eucharist is only a shadow of what Jesus feels to be united to your soul. That being said, I would recommend praying the Chaplet of St. Michael.

The history of this Chaplet goes back to a devout Servant of God, Antonia d’Astonac, who had a vision of St. Michael. He told Antonia to honor him by nine salutations to the nine Choirs of Angels. St. Michael promised that whoever would practice this devotion in his honor would have, when approaching Holy Communion, an escort of nine angels chosen from each of the nine Choirs. In addition, for those who would recite the Chaplet daily, he promised his continual assistance and that of all the holy angels during life.

It would be great to have Angels escort you to your very first Holy Communion. <3

Wow! I too receive for the first time at Easter. This is wonderful. Thank you 😃
