I’ve been discerning a vocation for the past year or so. After being extremely disappointed by the lack of orthodoxy and poverty of the Conventual Franciscans I was really sad. Marytown was great, but the formation house was full of lots of cars, leather couches and chairs, an entertainment system, and lack of orthodoxy.
I started volunteering at a local Women’s Center through meeting their business manager while counting coin for her at the bank I work at. I met a very nice, but lonely lady at the Women’s Center and she asked me to visit St. John Cantius Parish in Chicago. I thought it wood be good to give her the company. When I arrived there I ended up meeting the brothers and Fr. Phillips their founder. I met with Father the next morning and talked for a few hours. Afterwards he invited me to spend Holy Week at the parish.
I’m so excited because St. John Cantius has an indult for the Tridintine Mass, they still have an alter rail, and they are dedicated to restoration of the sacred. I’m really looking forward to this. It really bothers me how irreverent we Catholics seem to have become in the presence of the Lord. Maybe this society is what I’m looking for since I’m looking to proclaim the truth through actions and words.
