St. Ignatius encourages us to use our God given imagination when meditating on Scripture and praying about it. But what if we took it a step further?

For example, a couple of times now after I have prayed either The Little Office of The Blessed Virgin Mary or praying for forgiveness or just in general times of distress or confusion, I imagine I’m standing or kneeling in front of Jesus and Mary. Mary is sitting on the chair I have in my bedroom and I’m resting my head in her lap while she strokes my hair. I imagine I give Jesus a big hug. I feel such peace and love in my heart when this happens.

Is this also prayer? Is this communication?

Absolutely yes.

We don’t really just need to talk and always “say prayers”, it’s also worth just being present with the person we love — God or his Mother. It’s, after all, an intimate time between lovers not a call with your boss!
Cheers, praying for ya! 🧡

Yes, it’s also prayer and communication.

I believe it was Mother Teresa who had the idea of us picturing Mary leading us to Jesus and leading us to the foot of the cross, holding us by the hand as if we were her little children.

I think many people have thought of getting a hug from Jesus. If you google “Jesus hug” you get dozens of different paintings, drawings, etc of Jesus hugging all kinds of different people of all ages. When one’s loved ones have all passed away, that hug from Jesus you picture might be the only hug you get most days. It might even be the only hug you want.
