"Imitation of Christ" Kempis

I am going to purchase a copy of the book “Imitation of Christ” by Kempis, but there are so many versions, what is the difference between the versions, and how should I decide which version to read? Thanks and I apologize as I am sure this has been asked before but I wasn’t able to find an existing thread.

Buy one from a Catholic editor. This is an excellent book but some versions were watered down during the editing phase. My favorite edition was edited by Leo Sherley-Price. Another good edition is one edited by Clare L. Fitzpatrick, from the Catholic Book Publishing Co, New York.
