Moses granted divinely-inspired precepts to the Chosen People, including many health protocols and means of animal harvesting that are humane. This included not hacking off one leg to eat and letting the animal go, partial butchery; and not force-feeding animals, done today in fattening geese to get fatty livers for liver pate. One precept was to not boil a young animal in its mother’s milk. Observant Jews do not mix milk and meat to this day, so you can get mayonnaise but not butter with a beef sandwich. The profanity of eating a child cooked in its mother’s milk prefigures and foreshadows the Virgin Mary’s Immaculate Conception to put her at one remove from Christ’s immolation on the Cross.
The Blessed Virgin Mary, conceived immaculately, free from the “Sin of Adam,” was pre-veniently or pre-coming-ly saved before Messiah, her Son, became incarnate in her womb. This sinlessness is indicated in her title “Full of Grace”. And the Virgin Mary’s immaculate status is demanded by her marriage with the Holy Spirit, Who can not forgive sin against His Person and Who is maritally united, two becoming one, unity with divinity, as we will be upon Christ’s return for His Bride, the Church. And the mother may not be a means of the Son’s destruction, the animal may not be boiled in mother’s milk.
Her pre-venient salvation, reserving the Virgin Mary free from Original Sin, making her a pure vessel for her Seed, Jesus Christ, keeps both in a state as sinless as Adam and the Woman were at their creation, and precludes any possibility of child sacrifice applying in the case of the Virgin Mary. So there is a Mournful Mother and not a gleeful minion present at Christ’s crucifixion. A parallel situation today might be conceiving a child to use as a matching tissue type to sacrifice for organs, God forbid.
The Lamb of God was slain for sin before time began, and here is the Virgin’s forensic rescue from sin and ours, hers taking place at a different point in time than ours, at her Immaculate Conception. The consecration and sacrifice of Christ’s Body and Blood took place at the Passover and was consummated later on Calvary. But the Virgin Mary, pre-veniently saved, was not there as a kind of diabolical priestess offering up her Child in sacrifice, but rather a mother pierced with the sword of sorrow that the thoughts of all may be revealed, a charism we need to avail ourselves of as bought at so terrible a price. Christ was not “seethed in mother’s milk” so to speak.
Blessed Virgin Mary, pierced with a sword of sorrow that the thoughts of all may be revealed, expose all thoughts, cleansing them in the fire of love which is your Son, Jesus Christ’s, Sacred Heart. AMEN
