A few problems I see…
  1. WSJ is always pro-business. Which is good if you support business, but not always good if you support workers. It tells you exactly what the elites are thinking. It’s not where regular people are.
Living in a blue collar area, I’ve seen first hand how NAFTA hollowed out decent paying manufacturing jobs.

I understand that immigrants want better lives for their families, but so do working class native born Americans.

A lot of business owners will say that Americans don’t want to do that type of work, but the thing is that a lot of times they want to be paid more for their labor and time.

You also see this a lot in the tech industry. Look at how Disney recently displaced 100 or so tech workers in favor of immigrant workers who will work for less to be in the States. Some of them were kept on-board to train their replacements. Needless to say, I’m really not impressed with Disney these days.

It’s kind of ironic that nobody seems to find compassion for these displaced Americans when it really counts, but people are quick to claim that we should have compassion for illegals. Sorry, as much as I understand that they are fleeing desperate economic situations, I also understand that many of our fellow Americans also would like to earn a decent living and can’t because of how our economy has created a “race to the bottom” in terms of wages.
  1. How is illegal immigration fair to people who have played by the rules and follow immigration law?
In my area, there are lots of immigrants. God bless them all. However, if we say we are a nation of laws, then we actually should enforce them. Open borders is not compassionate policy, if we are supposed to be a nation.
  1. I find it very embarrassing that we will let people cross the border illegally, but our government won’t help Iraqi or other Middle Eastern Christians when their communities are literally being destroyed. I’m especially horrified because my brother served in Mosul for a year and churches have been taken over by ISIS. He lost his marriage over his frequent deployments. A lot of destruction, but not a lot of good really came out of his service did it?
  2. The problem is that what people see as bashing was Trump pointing out a lot of truth. Illegals do commit crimes. There are quite a few websites that have trying to point out problems with illegal immigration for years. Most are good people, but that doesn’t negate the fact that we’ve got to get control of our border. We are so desensitized by political correctness that people don’t call things what they are, so somehow, it’s surprising when someone says what’s going on in plain language.
  3. Culture, Language, Borders…they matter. I love America. I love being American, but I also know that America is falling apart and a lot of people seem to be cheering our destruction. America isn’t too big to fail. There will no bailout if our light - the beacon of the world - falls apart. I really don’t get people who support unlimited open borders.
  4. That’s all I’ve got right now.

The logical disconnect though is that since some people commit crimes, we need to act against the whole of that people. This argument has always failed on two points with me. The first is that it does note work if you substitute “black”, “teens”, “Muslims”, etc.

The second is that the logical solution to people who are untracked committing crimes is to track them. In other words, document the undocumented.

Is it such a terrible thing to want immigrants to come here LEGALLY, like they do everywhere else.

Where is this logical disconnect? I see none. That is what sanctuary cities are about. Giving protection to illegal immigrants.

The argument you cite fails to me. All people want to do is protect Americans who every year are made the victims of crimes by illegal immigrants.

SO make them legal and there will be no more victims of crimes committed by illegal immigrants, if that is the only concern.
