In a church so clearly concerned about the right to life, what is the church’s stand on immigrant rights to cross borders, to labor and to access college funding? Is it only documented US citizens who matter to the church?

A societies legal rights are only available to legal citizens of that country. Immigrants are “guests” of the country, and are usually afforded some basic legal protections, but as they are not citizens, should not be afforded the same protections, priviledges and benefits of full citizenship.

Are you asking about legal or illegal iIllegal immigrants? Legal immigrants are and should be afforded most of the rights a US citizen has. My son-in-law is a legal immigrant from Lebanon and he has most of the rights I have. He can not vote and can not receive welfare payments for the 1st 2 years he is here. He will be entitled to social security whether he becomes a citizen or not because he pays into the system. Legal immigration is and should be encouraged. All of our ancestors were immigrants at one time or another. Illegal immigration is another thing. Illegal immigrants should not have any rights other than the right to not be tortured. That is right no medical treatment, no education for them or their children, no anything except a bus or plane ride home. Illegal immigrants should be rounded up and sent home with no hope of ever getting a into the country legally, if they return they should be incarcerated for 2 years then returned home, 2nd offence is 5 years and 3rd is 15years. There are millions of people trying to get in legally and the illegals are line jumping which they have no right to do. We also need to change the law that says if you are born here you are a citizen, if your parents are here illegally and you are born here you should not be a citizen.
As long as immigrants are given basic rights it is none of the church’s business.
