On this side of eternity is when we make all our choices.

If one is in heaven, there is no need for forgiveness because one is perfect in heaven. That’s why faith and hope are no longer needed, one sees God as He is. As Paul says, Only love remains…forever

otoh, If one is in hell, there is no forgiveness, and no hope…forever
Well, than that means Gods love and forgiveness is ONLY available to us for a limited time, thus NOT eternal and NOT unconditional…I cannot see any other way of putting it (if what you say is true).

However I have a hard time believing that, as it says in the bible God loves us much more than a parent loves a child and it also says it is unconditional and eternal, if it only applies to us when we are alive, then that is a contradiction, plus even a parent continues to love their child after their death and would most definitely forgive them of anything, even after they had died.

Im going to reflect on this and ask my priest about this as well, but if what you say is true, then Im not sure I want to continue on as a catholic, after all, what kind of God (who is eternal and knows NO time) only makes his forgiveness and saving grace available to his creations for such a short amount of time, and then its game over?!!

He never stops loving. His love is not on trial here. Romans 8:38-39 Scripture doesn’t say nothing can separate us from God. It says nothing can separate us from the love of God. People in hell are experiencing God’s justice.

God explained what our love for Him entails. John 14:15 That’s what we are judged on. How we keep His commandments. We don’t know how long we have on this side of eternity. Therefore, Make every day count.

He told us what is required of us. You seem to want life on your terms without judgement at the end. Good luck with that.
