When the pope laicizes a priest or bishop, what impact, if any, does it have on the sacremental ordination of the cleric?

I assume the sacrament is not undone by the laicization.

I was just curious.

That is correct, the Sacrament cannot be undone, it creates an permanent ‘mark’ on the soul.

What laication does is to remove both the eccelesial rights and responsibilites of Holy Orders from the person in question.

He is not allowed to say Mass, hear confessions (except when the penitent is in danger of death), or represent himself as a priest in any way. He still is a priest, but he does not function as one.

One exception to that: unless he’s been granted permission by the pope, a laicized priest may not marry.

Then again, most laicization is done in pursuit of marriage.
