Having done a little travel around the midwestern US, I am aware that the changes to the GIRM that recently went into effect have been implemented unevenly. I was curious to what extent your parish has implemented the changes.

Is your parish/diocese/archdiocese doing any catechesis to reinforce the changes? Have the changes gone to the wayside?

My own personal opinion is that, rather than eliminate liturgical abuses, the changes have only increased them because they have been so unevenly implemented.

Just curious.

In our parish, we just implemented the changes to the Mass this last Sunday. It amounted to a mention in the homily that we were going to bow, and stand at different times than usual. We did get a little “talk” about how the addition of the bow before we approch the eucharistic minister to recieve communion is to show additional reverence.

But nothing else. What a missed opportunity to inform people about the catechism, and the meanings of the different parts of the Mass.

I would just like to point out the new GIRM didn’t “change” anything. Everything that people are considering “changes” were already in the old GIRM but were being ignored and abused. The vatican just released the new GIRM to more expressly state what the rubrics already were to prevent further abuse.

However, I think the point in which the congregation stands at the response “May the lord accept the sacrafice at your hands…” may have been an actual change… I’m not sure. (From after the statement to before)

All our GIRM changes were implemented the Advent of the year they came out. This week we will go over the new RS document to make sure we are all compliant. However I can’t think of anything we are doing wrong here, but I will find out Wednesday.

We were instructed on the changes and implemented them the first of this year. It was mentioned by the priest that the whole diocese was implementing the changes simultaneously.
