Almost every day there is a meaningful, inspiring message, to comfort, guide, correct, or wake up to action. This is wonderful. Just had to express my feelings about it!

It is clear to me that Pope Francis is a great gift to our church. I was concerned when Pope Benedict the XVI resigned. In the past two months I am so grateful that the Cadinal Jorge Bergoglio was elected Pope. It is important that we pray for his good health. :signofcross:

Oh yes 🙂 I receive his tweets via an app called Catholic Droid. I enjoy reading them; very inspirational 🙂

Latest Pontifex tweet:

“The world tells us to seek success, power and money;
God tells us to seek humility, service and love.”

Amen

The @Pontifex account is a beautiful source of inspiration - it’s one of the many things that helped finally tip the balance towards me starting out on my journey to become a Catholic.

However, there’s a darker side to the Holy Father’s involvement on Twitter too; if you ever want an example of the challenges facing people of faith in today’s society, steel yourself and have a look at the replies which, without fail, each and every one of Pope Francis’ tweets attracts. It’s something akin to an open sewer, with condescending atheism, virulent anti-Catholic prejudice, and foul-mouthed abuse, to the point I always make sure not to look at the replies (indeed just as His Holiness has already said he does not do, like Pope Emeritus Benedict before him.)

I love them, especially the one about humility recently. I have them sent via text to my phone.

I would think that the Pope would be too busy to read all those replies. However, at least those people are READING the Pope’s tweets, and perhaps one will be converted!

Blessings,
Christina

I also noticed the constant attacks. Do you think some of them are breaking any Twitter regulations by being so abusive? I think some of them need to be reported.

Hello, hope this thread isn’t too old to continue? I’m new to this forum, so still finding my way - but I think that if anyone wants to check the Pope’s Tweets everyday but avoid all the abusive language, then going on to the Vatican website at news.va then click on Fides News Agency, it brings up all the tweets on the right hand side of the page.
More Pope Francis less occasion for sin by seeing any of the awful replies, and getting angry (that’s me though!).
But then on second thoughts, maybe it takes a stronger soul than me to keep checking Twitter and sending messages of support in reply to the Pope to show people are following him on the site, despite all the awfulness.
Just another option there…

StPio, yes, news.va is where I go to read the Pope’s tweets also.
