St. Paul says the head of the husband is God himself, while the head of the wife is the husband. If both man and woman are made in the image of God, why does the wife have to settle for a mere weak mortal male as her head, while the husband has the Creator of the universe as his head? I think St. Paul’s thinking in this regard is that of his times, when women were considered inferior. His admonition regarding headwear for women has been discarded, and the admonition about headship should also be discarded.
