In need of a catechist

In the church bulletin, it stated: We are in need of a catechist to teach the 2nd grade.

Have you been a catechist?
Have you taught CCD Religious Education classes?
 
No, I haven’t done this and would not. It’s just not in my skill set to teach anything.
 
I have, from about 1983-93. It was a great blessing. One of my students is now a priest!!
 
Yes, for five years. Something to look into if you feel called… 🙂

Sorry, I’m in the Washington DC area. Besides, I’m a little old to chase after 7 yr olds.:whackadoo:
 
For most of my life, yes. Am currently the Director of Religious Education.
Tweens & Teens are easier to teach than small children, LOL
 
I’ve been the Religious Education Coordinator in my parish for over 40 years. I teach both CCD & RCIA as well as Catechist Formation.

You can have those older kids – I’ll keep the wee ones.
They may not understand my humor, but sometimes that’s a good thing 😃
 
I teach 2nd grade RE. I love helping them prepare for their sacraments! And they are still sweet and relatively innocent at this age.
 
I course every age has it’s blessings. I sort of “specialize” in the tweens and teens. You can at last speak frankly to them. They have so many questions and are bombarded by secular issues. Nice to be able to re-orient them (as much as we can) to Christ.
It’s where the rubber hits the road, so to speak, LOL.

The First Communion catechists are particular wonderful, as they lead the children to that special relationship.
