I came here about a month ago and heard that the Baptist have a catholic discussion area.

A place where Catholics can come to talk with them. But the one who posted here said that they banned him. That all he did was bring the Catholic faith to them using Scripture and common sense. I went over to this board and have been talking with them for about a month. I really have been in the peace of our Lord over their, and this peace, well it looks as if they did the same to me. It was like the more I brought Christ to them, the angrier they got. It is us who sets them apart, our perceived falling away is why they have their certain sect. If we are not evil, if our faith is not fallen than they would have to take a closer look at what we have had for 2000 years. This would be Christ. They cannot reach out and love us. This is a sad fact. This is what I found over there. But in the end you have to love them with all of your heart. We as Catholics can accept them as Christians, brothers and sisters in Christ. But they cannot do this in order to maintain their certain sect. They have to set themselves apart from the body of Christ, the Catholic Church. Mormonism does this as well. But Mormonism is a whole lot different than the Baptist. All this is sad stuff. But it is why the Cross is so important. I have several posting over their under Catholic discussion. Figures, they really don’t always want to see or listen to views opposed to them. Neither do we all the time, but we should listen to others views, otherwise nothing can get done, stubborness only cripples yourself.

I think it sounds like fun going over their and showing them the truth! Even if they do reject it, I would enjoy, erm…penetrating hostile terroitory!

I know some Baptists and I know that there are passages that they dont take well, but I have never had anyone do what happened to you. There is a lot in James that they dont like. So what did you quote?

I was talking to some LDS and they basically blew me off that the true Church had fallen away in the early centuries and wouldnt even bother with what I had to say.

There have been a few zealous Protestants on this board that might have left with a similar feeling as you did.

Oftentimes, we can feel like we are being ganged up on when we get a flurry of responses countering a statement we have made. When you go into a forum like baptist.org, you are in the minority. When you make a statement contrary to Baptist teachings,the majority is going to respond.

Another problem lies in the fact that real relationships cannot be formed on the net like they can in real life. People develop relationships on all sorts of levels. They talk to you, they listen, they watch, they feel. People may see the long, hard life you have lived in Christian virtue and only then open themselves up to the faith undergirding this saintly life you’ve led. You can’t get that on the net. People are automatically skeptical. They are completely objective.

So don’t be surprised that your attempts to prostheletize are rejected coldly.

So what did you quote?

The last Scripture I gave was on the Cross,(Many Scriptures on the Cross) because they said they focus on the resurection while we have Jesus hanging on the cross. I get this from the LDS but it is the first time I have seen this in Baptist. I mentioned Billy Graham “If not for the Crucifixtion we would have no resurection, no salvation.” I mentioned that we just came through the Holy Days in our faith, we know the resurected Christ well and give thanks for what he has given by his one death and resurection. That I wear the cross without Christ on it, but cherish the crucifix in our Church as a model for what we have done, what we have failed to do, in order to come to understand His love and forgiveness for each one of us. Stuff like that. Right from the heart stuff.
