The fundamental question of mind:

Does mind arise from thought, or thought from mind?
Neither. “Mind” is a function of brain and beon (soul) integrated and working together.

First the brain is in almost total control, while beon is along for the ride. (Early childhood) Later beon (soul) gradually becomes aware of its existence and learns to control and guide the brain. (Late childhood)

Eventually, sometimes but not very often, beon actually takes charge. In this high state of consciousness, brain performs routine tasks at all levels, from driving the car to running the computer and reading books, serving as a repository for information, and furthering beon’s desire to think and learn on its quest for independent consciousness. .

This pair of entities, God-created brain/body plus non-created beon (soul) are intimately connected, so much so that only the most conscious of us (yogis, for example) can distinguish themselves as separate from their brains.

Incapable of making such distinctions, the general rut of human beings lump the multiple functions of brain and soul into a single notion, which they label “mind.”
