In The Wrong Ministry?

I have begun to wonder if I am in the wrong ministry.

I am very big on teaching the Catholic Faith and educating people about what we believe as Catholics. I love our faith and want others to love it as well. I am currently working with the high school youth group and seem to be the only person interested in actually educating the high schoolers on The Faith. Everyone else involved (adults and kids) seem to be more than happy to have a discussion along the lines of “What do you think that means?” and “How does that make you feel?”

Is that common? Have I picked the wrong ministry for actually teaching the Catholic Faith?

Absolutely not!

The response of the others tells me that these people are starving. What you need to do is pray hard for the Holy Spirit guide you how best to capture their attention.

Maybe get some free tapes or CDs from www.catholicity.com and evangelise these poor lost sheep.

just remember what Blessed Mother Teresa (I think) said: God does not ask you to be successful, He just asks you to be faithful.

Hang in there!

I am part of a ministry which before was pretty much a social hour, now we have slowly become a Faith\Bible study. Perhaps you are there to provide a little more focus on what is lacking.

Maybe you can encourage people to ask what is true rather than what is one’s opinion.

Its much safer the way it was before which is probably why it was turned out that way. You don’t have to tell someone they are wrong or have a tough conversation if you are simply asking people what they feel.

But that drives me nuts. We’re bringing up a generation of future protestants because people aren’t willing to teach The Truth! The high school kids are constantly under attack from friends, society, etc. and they need to be grounded in The Truth.

Challenge them. When someone asks how they feel about something, be prepared to give them the answer from the CCC and explain why the Church teaches that. Or ask them to find out why.
