Both
At the school, mostly honest adults and mixed with students.

At the foster facility, again most of the adults are honest but you can’t trust the kids.

Depends. Everyone at my current work place is insecure about themselves and their job. So, they tell tall tales and create rumors. Most are just prideful meatheads. However, some really go out of their way to lie and gossip. I avoid them or just tell them off.

My previous job had more honesty but less responsibilities. Granted, before I left we had someone stealing. That individual had mental issues and should have been fired long before.

Both.
I also work with a third category–dementia. They don’t precisely “lie”, but you have to take what they say with a grain of salt (like if they tell you they just came in from shoveling all that snow and it’s the middle of July…).

Although I agree with you, there are a lot of people on these fora who could legitimately tell you they were shoveling snow in July.

I myself sing Christmas songs in July. Hmmm. Maybe you just proved your point about the dementia thing.

But yeah, there are both very truthful and some very untruthful people I come in contact with. You eventually figure out who to believe at what times.

Both. Just like everywhere else. I have never been the ‘flatter the boss’ type - I think that annoys me the most, especially when it is false, superficial, done just for personal gain, in lieu of contribution.

Bit of both. But I suspect anyone in a customer-facing position, especially one where we send large bills, deals with some dishonesty. There’s always a certain proportion of customers who will do whatever they can to save a buck.

Coworkers are mostly ok, although we get one or two who try to get out of doing their jobs. Usually management catches on eventually.

I meet lots of folks who think they are honest and rationalize their dishonesty/lies. A human problem. Politics is a game of lies. Money powers lies. Fear, selfish desires… Not telling the truth isn’t the only kind of lie.

Kids often start to lie to try to avoid getting in trouble. The parent asks, “Did you break the window?” and the child, with the slingshot behind his back, says, “No!” I find that this carries right into adulthood for many of us. Some of my bosses or coworkers would sometimes lie to avoid being chastised or having to pay the consequences for their actions.

Lol. Some of my colleagues can convince others it actually is snowing in July, it melted while you were indoors and that you missed that and a snow parade.

And most would believe them.

I work 2 days a week and it takes me 3 days to recover.☺️

Yes… Customer service is difficult.
The Best lie is .when
Caught in a lie

Well we made some changes sense then!

I worked with one guy for many years whose face would slightly twist and contort whenever he was lying. All of us who knew him well could tell when he was making up an explanation on the spot.

Your dealing with human beings,
Humans come in all sorts ,
Good people that do bad things and bad people that do good things ,
Those that have not sinned may cast the first stone
