Interesting take on Facebook’s “your year in review”. A reminder that not everyone had such a wonder year & maybe they don’t want to memorialize it.

This is very true. I’m happy to see that Facebook designers are addressing the issue, so that “Your Year in Review” doesn’t bring up painful reminders such as deaths and divorces.
I had one of the most painful years in my life, but luckily kept references to family problems off of Facebook. Only happy thoughts there!

This is a form of artificial intelligence in that FB wrote a program to simulate what a person might choose for favorite posts for the year.

Remember this when people speak of AI being the equivalent of a real human mind.

Such unintended and unanticipated results will never leave any complex computer system and that is all AI ever really can be.
