I’ve read so much about inappropriate Mass attire, but how about this:
This month I’ve been filling in for the parish’s regular pianist who is on vacation. From my perch in the church’s rather small choir loft, I have been witness to some disturbing behavior on the part of one couple.
They’re in their 20s, married, and sit in the back. For lack of a better word, they fondle each other during Mass. Last week, I glanced down during the homily and the young man had his hand somewhere under his wife’s skirt. She was making no effort to dissaude him. I know the Church is all for marriage and marital acts, but isn’t this wrong? I mean, during Mass??
The entire choir has watched these two and we’re unsure about how to handle the situation. We talked to the priest but he said that they’re “young and in love.” I have young children who sing in the choir and I don’t want them seeing something like that. Should we take it higher or just let the matter go?
