Mathew 12
Some are incapable of marriage because they were born so; some, because they were made so by others; some, because they have renounced marriage 9 for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Whoever can accept this ought to accept it."

Jesus speaks the truth here. There are many of us who are not accepting this.

The trouble is how do you know that you are incapable of marriage?

Accepting you are incapable of marriage is different than assuming you aren’t worthy of marriage;) 😛

“Incapable” in the first clause means unable to perform sexually, this can be a problem for men or women. The second clause clarifies the first: “some, because they were made so by others”… that’s clearly referring to eunuchs.

The third clause, of course, refers to vows.

A somewhat more traditional translation of Matthew 19:12
For there are eunuchs, who were born so from their mother’s womb: and there are eunuchs, who were made so by men: and there are eunuchs, who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven. He that can take, let him take it.

this verse is also one of those which gives justification for the annulment process, and for canon law on who is capable of marriage.

…when God shows you that you can better serve him by not being married.
