We are called to not point out the faults of others to those who do not know them or even those who do as it becomes gossip if not done out of charity and concern.
I have a big mouth and I’m trying to get better about thinking before speaking but this morning, I reminded my father about something regarding the arrangements he’d made for a trip. My mom was there and she got upset at my dad because of the thing I’d pointed out that my father had no problem with but that worried my mother and I.
I felt it was my duty to remind him of this because it could effect everyone who was involved in where we were staying.

However, was I wrong? I think me doing this might have been a cause for making my mom angry at my dad which I did not mean to do. Perhaps I should have done I in private? But then, I don’t know if he would have listened.
I want to be kinder and more charitable to people and goodness knows it’s very hard… especially when you have the habit of blurting things out.
EDIT: let me clarify that I’m not asking whether or not this is a mortal or venial sin. I just want to know if it was wrong. I’m trying to do better.

Well, I saw there was a thread about not treating this forum like a confessional so I thought maybe I shouldn’t ask the question? It’s not about anything inappropriate and I just wanted an honest opinion.

Your father had no problem with your reminder. You can’t always forecast how people will react. It would only have been wrong if you knew it would upset your mother and you did it anyway. (If you had known that, you could have reminded your father privately.)
