I was reading an article attempting to give an idea of the immensity of the size of the universe . The author supposes that the size of the earth is 0.25 inch, about the size of a pea. The the sun is the size of a basketball, and the nearest star is 2500 miles away. The sun is in the Milky Way which is about sixty million miles in diameter containing 100,000,000,000 basketball size stars. But in addition to the Milky Way galaxy there are more than 200,000,000,000 different galaxies. The pea sized earth has more than 7 billion people. Now God is in control of the entire universe, not just the pea sized earth. The author, who seems to be atheist, asks why would God wait more than 4 billion years after the earth was formed to direct His attention to the 7 billion people on the peas sized earth and wait so long to to send His Son.
Of course the theist might ask as to whether it is reasonable to believe that the universe together with all of the multiverses all arose from nothing.

I would reply with “Why not?” If perception of time isn’t objective, why is it wrong for God to create a Universe that we perceive as “slow”?

It’s also mind blowing to learn about the tiny things we can’t see with our naked eye, down to the plank (sp?) length and the quantum foam.

Some people get really upset by this stuff, makes them all existential-crisisey, but it makes me feel very cozy to know I’m tucked into my own little place in the Universe.

I keep a collection of videos on my you tube account like this—smallest to largest objects in the universe, time lapse of the far future, etc—whenever I need a dose of awe.

❤️
