Oh yeah. That’s the first person that comes to mind when I think of Mother Teresa:rolleyes: I say to myself, gee, she even resembles her too…NOT!

Well, the bone structure is similar. If you took off Paris’ makeup and put her in a habit, maybe she would look like a younger Mother Teresa.

To even suggest such a thing is a slap in the face of the Church and to Mother Teresa. Paris Hilton is no actress by any stretch of the imagination. Here comes another movie to boycott.

I agree. It is so absurd to even suggest her for that role.:hmmm:

Depending on how it was done, it could actually be a great film.

And by playing Mother Teresa, could it be possible that Paris Hilton may actually have a deep conversion experience and become a very real and devout Catholic? This may be the best thing to ever happen to her.

We shall see.

This very topic was discussed on this forum back in February. Unfortunately, judgementalism is as rampant now as it was then, so I’ll copy/paste my post from the old thread:

My guess is that Mother Teresa would hold out her arms and embrace Paris Hilton for who she is, a child of God, no different than any of us. That is what made Mother Teresa such a wonderful example of the beauty of virtue and forgiveness.

Admittedly, I had a similar initial reaction upon first hearing the news. But it didn’t take longer than a minute or two before it occurred to me that such a role might convert Ms. Hilton. Drew Mariani had a wonderful discussion about this very topic last week (February) on his Relevant Radio show, and over the course of about 15 minutes, went from being absolutely disgusted by the news to seeing it as a potential calling for Paris Hilton, and praying for her conversion.

Anyway, who are we to judge? As much as we believe ourselves to be on the right track in our lives and strong in faith, I don’t doubt we each have plenty in our pasts we truly regret. Moments of shame and sinfulness.

Let us emulate Mother Teresa … and in doing so, Jesus … by not writing Paris of with a self-righteous flip of the wrist and a quick dismissal on the Catholic Answers forum. Let us instead embrace the potential of her conversion and pray for her precious soul … it is, afterall, just as precious to God as any of our own.

Great point Cenpress,

Maybe Russel Crowe can play a pacifist. I still don’t want to be near him if he has a phone in his hand.

Yes, you are 100% right with your post. But, I hope the movie isn’t being made just to ridicule Mother Teresa and her work. I believe they could have picked a better actress to portray her.

Yeah, it could happen! Remember that Mother Teresa was very cordial to Princess Diana when she met her? We can’t worry about who plays her in the role. I just hope the role is true to her life.

Most people know Mother Teresa as an older woman. I imagine they will use a different actress for that. Age makeup can only do so much! The scenes with young Mother Teresa may not be very long. If Paris does act in this movie, it might not be a big deal. But if she’s in half the movie, well, from what I heard she’s not a very good actress and maybe they should consider someone else 🙂 .

Kind of off topic, but I found this interesting:

How makup is used to make Olivia Hussey and Geraldine Chaplin look like Mother Teresa.
