I went to Mass today and I knew I was going to be inititiated to the 1rst degree in the Knights of Columbus today but I took 3 of the 4 degrees today. I am proud to be in this brotherhood. I was just confirmed November 24. I am very happy.

Congratulations! I don’t understand what the degrees mean though.

Each of our degrees is a lesson. The first three degrees focus, respectively, on the virtues of charity, unity, and fraternity.

The Fourth Degree is actually a separate organization, with the virtue of patriotism.

Unlike the masons and such, we claim no secret knowledge. Members are not to discuss not as the contents themselves are secret, but because having heard details would minimize the impact of the lessons.

This a great organization I have been a Knight for about 10 years, now your particular council may be very active are may have a lot of older members and if they do I recommend that you recruit younger members in your congregation by recruiting new and younger Brothers you will help keep your council with the younger help that you will need to keep your council active and vital to your priest and Church

RN pgk,pfn

we very much need young members.

The older members can provide experience and guidance, but so much of the work needs youth and energy . . .

In our initiation a 17 1/2 year old was initiated and two also under the age of 35. The ones who initiated us were over 65 but most of the people who were being brought into the Knights were under 55. I am 52.
