I came across a new website (new to me) that seems to offer some quality Catholic content and resources - www.formed.org

It looks like the site costs $10/mo for a individual membership (it offers a Parish membership - but mine doesn’t offer this).

I’d use it to extend personal/family catechesis.

I’m considering giving the website a try, but am wondering if anyone here has used the site and what your opinions of the site happen to be? Is it true to its offerings? What are the benefits and the drawbacks - that you’ve experienced.

Thanks in advance for your reviews!

Peace,
Hunting

I use it and it’s amazing. No drawbacks except that it doesn’t have young child focused videos yet (it does have children’s audios and teen programs)

I’ve been using it since it launched in August, it keeps growing and growing as more programs, movies, books, etc are added.

I highly recommend it to EVERYONE

God Bless

A friend gave me the information yesterday.

I have checked it out and it’s a Awesome Truly Catholic resource site:thumbsup:

As I understand it the Parish can purchase it for the use of all parishioners. So pass this on to your Pastor and DRE’s:)

Easter Blessings,

Not just register parishioners, but also every single person who lives inside the parish boundaries… Catholic or not. Many parishes (esp in the South) are using it as a door to door campaign. Handing out post cards with the access code and inviting everyone in their boundaries to log in.

Some parishes have already reported Catholics coming back to Mass, and some have already reported converts. There is one story of a family who had not been to mass in a long time, but they took their kids to CCD. They received the info for FORMED from the CCD teachers, and that very Sunday, they were at Mass, dressed up (dad in suit), sitting in the front row!

FORMED is for real.

God Bless!

My parish recently got a subscription, and I’ve used it some. It has quality content, but there is not a lot of content. I was never able to use the site with my primary browser, and had to use a secondary one.

Part of how our parish uses it is for RCIA, so if someone misses a class, they can watch a dvd at home.

Please keep in mind that it is still growing.

They are still filming new content specifically for it and this weekend “Divine Mercy” launches.

If you were to watch everything, it could take a while. Also, some of the programs are such that you can watch over and over to pick up on something you missed before.

One person (a former seminarian) I know mentioned it’s kind of like doing Lectio Divina with video instead of Scripture.

Our parish just got a parish subscription, so using that I logged on and signed up. It looks like a great resource, but all I have done so far is download a free e-book to my Kindle.

The Symbolon series seems especially suited to watching it and then a year later watching it again. It is well thought out in how it explains each topic and could be used as a model for you to follow if someone asks you about the faith.

Yeap… The Lectio series is similar, in that you learn or relearn stuff for sharing Catholic Biblical Theology
