Instead of going to God when things get tough, I turn to the world

I don’t feel God when I’m stressed (well I don’t feel him honestly often anymore). I just go to Tumblr and fangirl since it’s so distracting and comforting to me. (reading about Tom Hiddleston, etc). I know the Footprints in the Sand kinda thing but I suffer from mini nervous breakdowns here and there and I feel like it now.

I don’t want to cook/clean or do anything. Just zone out and watch tv, eating stuff I’m allergic to and just not caring. I just don’t care.

Anyone else going through stuff like this? I do have bipolar/depression issues and it’s a seasonal change which is making this waaaay worse.

Thanks!

Kat

Please seek professional help for your depression and follow your doctors instructions. It is possible to beat depression and get your life back.

Lol, the same used to happened to me, especially during the winter season. I used to just waste all my time playing online games, it kills time very quickly.

Thanks! I guess I’m kind of killing time between stressful events and the seasonal stuff.

I understand the impulse to waste time when things get stressful. To be honest, I’m quite interested in what answers the other denizens of this thread come up with.

Hmm. When I am stressed I am the most angry at God. Why do I have to know His existence? Why do I even bother to care so much? It can be frustrating looking at all the rules demanded from my faith and think you know what **** this I will never be good enough. What is the good in knowing God’s grace now? Why not tomorrow? Or even later? Sometimes it feels like God is against everything fun. I won’t be young forever. I will grow out of facebook and other media sources. I do not know when exactly too much entertainment becomes a sin. I hate always thinking this is a sin, that is a sin. I should have done better. I wish I could be at peace one day and my brain was not worrying about the future or how I have failed or how I will fail. Please take care of your body and your spirit. I think I have anxiety/depression. Try to care.

I had many of the same symptoms and feelings at various times of my depression over the years, and when it got to that point, if I wasn’t taking medicine, I would need to go get it, or have the medication changed. When your ‘physical’ self is sick in this way, it makes it difficult to be in touch with your spiritual side.

I can’t answer the questions you’ve asked of God, other than God is always True; He always loves us and cares about us. While living in Grace isn’t easy, and may not feel rewarding while on this earth and in this world, it will later.

I have also recently started seeing a Catholic therapist (for childhood trauma issues, not depression), but I’d recommend seeing a good one for any sort of issues from depression to whatever you’re dealing with.

Please take care of yourself, as well. God bless you.
