Hi all. I’m converted to Catholicism completly and have studied the faith for almost a year now on my own and with help from my boyfriend and his mom. I know I’m ready to be confirmed, but the RCIA class I began in September was run by a paganistic Catholic at a church I just don’t feel right going too…so I quit because I didn’t want to join the Church that way. The wrong way.(not that RCIA is wrong, just those people were)

But I DO want to join. So, does preist instruction still exist and would it be too late for me to try to talk to a preist to see if I’m ready to be confirmed yet? Is there any way I could be confirmed into the Church without having to wait until Easter of 2008?

Thanks

A Baptized Candidate does not have to wait until the Easter Vigil to be Confirmed. Speak with a priest at a parish you are comfortable at.

Thank you, I was baptized Baptist and it was confirmed as legit at the church I attended RCIA. I’ll try to find a priest to talk with.

Ideally the RCIA program works for most dioceses but in your case the local parish has questionable catechesis. Is there a possibility in your diocese that you have adult confirmation classes only that are taught?

catechesis-chicago.org/Confirmationforadults/adultconfirmation.htm

In our diocese, there is a separate class that is done at a cluster of parishes…not just in one parish, but several parishes gather catechumenate (those studying for Cofirmation together) and they are confirmed at some specific date, not the Easter vigil mass. This is the link about it in our diocese, Perhaps your diocese has also. So check with the Office of Catechesis of your diocese. They may even have a link online like ours does for you to make your inquiry.

With all things, pray, pray and pray some more.
Remember when Christ chose the people to serve him, He picked fisherman, farmers, not college grads, not kings or queens, He picked ordinary people with faults, like St.Peter who even denied Him three times to spread his good news
and His church. God bless you.

Thank you all very much for your replies!

I found a priest who is willingn to give me private instruction, so I am very excited.

I hope you all have a great Lent and Easter season!

Gob Bless.
