Given the above, why do you think that scientism is rampant?
I don’t recognize the term and I don’t know that whatever it is is rampant. Mostly I think it’s a figment of a few radical fundamentalist Christian’s imaginations. The vast majority of scientists are very main stream sorts of people. They are Christians, Buddhists, Jews, atheists, etc. Nothing at all like Dawkins.

I don’t think so either. But the answers might not be true in perpetuity.
Electronics is a wonderful example because something either works or it doesn’t. The answers might not be true in perpetuity idea does not cut it when most of the questions involve the behavior of individual parts and circuits. Once again, it either works or it doesn’t. This part will have this clearly defined efect on the circuit and so on. Problems were relatively easy to trace and fix. A defective part had a clearly defined effect on the rest of the system.

This is true.

Peace,
Ed

You of course are correct. Electronics uses science, but it isn’t really science. Physics makes electronics happen and physics is in constant change. Just look at the state of quantum theory. It’s a mess! But electronics is pretty stable because as you said, it’s parts and circuits, which isn’t really science. I mean, how many PhD programs are there in electronics? But then what do I know, I’m no expert.

Most leading scientists reject God.

Some are using the same mountains of evidence to deny God.

And I cannot understand the reason behind your “don’t force” and “keep out of science class” ideas discussed here. This is not the Local School Board Forum or the Public School Teachers Only Forum and it is certainly not the Mainstream Forum.

It is a Forum For Catholic Answers. Does it surprise you that some Catholic Answers are not mainstream? Could it be that Catholics want to affirm and widely distribute Catholic teaching on a Catholic Forum?

Catholics are taught to not imitate the world but to consider all things in light of Catholic teaching.

Yes, electronics is built on physics, but one truth was built on another. That’s how progress was made. Plus a lot of good, old fashion trial and error, which is also going on in biology I might add.

OK. Then just discuss ID in science class with your fellow Catholics.
