Aidan Nichols’, OP, book, Rome and the Eastern Churches, A Study in Schism is being republished in a second edition. Two good things about this:
  1. The price is much more affordable, and
  2. The second edition is entitled simply Rome and the Eastern Churches. The “A Study in Schism” subtitle has apparently been left off the new edition. Am I being too hopeful in finding some significance in that?

I’ve heard of him, but never read anything from him. Are there any differences in the content? There’s probably a foreword that will explain the change. I’d like to get a hold of that book myself. Thanks for the heads up.

Blessings,
Marduk

I don’t know; the new edition just came out, so I haven’t bought it, but I probably will. I don’t have the first edition anymore; it was too expensive to buy, so I checked it out once.

Improved title, improved price. 👍 It still seems to be on “Back Order” including at the publisher, Ignatius Press.

I’ve read bits and pieces of this book. The comments on purgatory are most enlightening, especially since they are coming from a Roman scholar who makes a serious attempt at objectivity.

Sadly the “Study in Schism” subtitle has not been dropped. I was on Ignatius Press’s website this morning to price the book in the hopes of eventually obtaining my own copy.

ICXC + NIKA,
Phillip

I noticed it appeared that way on the Ignatius Press site, but you can zoom in on the cover on Amazon and “Study in Schism” does not appear on the cover of the book, nor on the title listing there. The cover just has Rome and the Eastern Churches Second Edition . So maybe, hopefully, the web page on Ignatius Press didn’t get the updated title… Once it’s actually out Amazon may have that feature where you can look inside and see the title page.
