Today at Mass the priest, who hasn’t genuflected at the Consecration in the 10 years I’ve known him, made a show of genuflecting, looked at the congregation with a smile and said “I hope someone will let the bishop know,” provoking laughter, then proceeded to continue with the consecration of the wine.
I noticed also that, rather than passing the Ciborium around like a candy dish the way he normally does, he actually gave Communion to the altar servers and EMHCs. He still did it before he even said “This is the Lamb of God…” and they all received together, but at least the new Bishop’s visit produced some positive results although it was obvious that Fr. didn’t agree.
