Most people know of my long-time ups and downs while working my way to completing conversion (if you don’t, research my previous posts. I used to be on here frequently).

Anyway, considering I am a full-time paramedic with three jobs and going to school full-time, there is little time to go through a structured RCIA program. Well I have been going to Mass again consistently which has been a true grace that I let go for too long. I am tired of sitting in the pew and not receiving the Eucharist when I know it truly is our Lord. I am tired of not having the available sacraments. I am tired of not being in full communion with the Church and God. So I contacted the RCIA director at the parish I attend and told him my situation. I told him my story and we have had wonderful intellectual discussions. He spoke with his higher up and the parish priest about doing this on a quicker, more concise schedule. After all, RCIA is not required for baptized Christians. After some discussion . . .

It has been approved. It will consist of a few meetings and discussions, some reading on my part and other little things. Won’t take long according to them. In no time at all, I can finally call my self a Catholic.

I will keep you all posted on the upcoming meetings and events. Friday is the first meeting.

Glad I can share this with y’all.

Good for you! We are Happy that you have made it. Let us know what happens

You are ‘Catholic’ the moment your heart is!

Since you know what that ‘Catholic’ means, you ARE, Catholic.

Met with RCIA director tonight for about two hours. Wonderful discussion and he thinks I am ready at this very moment to be confirmed and receive the sacraments. He is also interested in me becoming a Catechist after I am through. His program goes all over the world preparing instructors to provide orthodox instruction. This is the real deal and completely faithful to the Church and Her teachings. It’s amazing. They even have their own professional manual.

So the next step is meeting with the parish priest for a discussion. Then if the priest agrees with RCIA director that I am ready, it can be taken to the Bishop. Looks like this may be a very quick process.

Wonderful news. I will k:thumbsup:eep your intentions in my prayers…

Update:

Parish priest approved the request to receive me into the Church sans RCIA. Accepted request based on RCIA directors evaluation of my knowledge and depth of understanding of the Faith. Like I mentioned, this is an AMAZING RCIA program here and very in-depth, structured, and taught by non-cafeteria Catholics. Will be working with the program in the future as an instructor.

Looking forward to this. More updates to come.

Welcome Home and thanks for the testimony, it is important for people to know that with a little creative thinking anyone who wishes to become Catholic can be instructed and prepared for the rites and sacraments. Be persistent and willing to do your part. Dont’ take no for an answer, because it usually does not mean “no” it means
I am not the person in charge and I am just reading the policy from a sheet of paper
or
I never faced your situation before and am not sure how to take care of your needs
or
hey I just teach the class, I don’t set the schedule
and most often
in your case a face to face interview with the pastor is the best and shortest route to coming up with a plan that works.
