I was just watching EWTN, a Father was reading a letter by Mother Theresa, the crux of the letter was, do we hear Christ in our hearts, do we hear him speaking His love for us there? Many have told me how much Christ loves me, how He has sought me in all my rebellion, in my turning from Him time and time again when He has clearly saved me from certain death on numerous occasions. I have seen God reach out to me in music, Scripture, other christians, circumstances, but I have never heard Him speak to my heart, and the longing I have for that now is so intense, is such intamacy with Christ possible?

Perhaps that longing is the way He is speaking to you. Longing for Him is a wonderful sign of love; He planted that longing in your heart.

Most people never hear actual words when Christ “speaks” to them — He can speak to us through Scripture, through the people we encounter, or simply by making us aware of His loving presence.

Was not talking about an audible voice, but a knowing in your heart that Christ is at home.

Yes, it is most definately “possible”. For me initially, it was a big symphony of sound that could only have divine origin. Once I realized it was He who loves me causing the ruckus in my heart and head, I decided the best way to fine tune His voice would be to talk to Him and listen for the response. Mother Angelica truly sums it up best for me when she tells us to talk to Him about every little thing, every banal tidbit of minutiae, like you would with anyone whom you love completely. My conversations with Him start upon awakening and cease when sleep arrives (although sometimes they continue in dreams!). The more I talk to Him, the more He responds, in ways more wonderful than mere words.

Yes, most definitely!!! I think one thing we, as humans, do is to deny when that intimacy is truly there. Christ speaks to us in so many different ways, but we tend to dismiss many of them because it didn’t speak to us in the way we wanted or in the way we expected. And so we wait and ache for Christ to speak to us, when in reality He is speaking to us…He’s always been speaking to us.

Perhaps your right, my preconcieved ideas may have caused me to miss it!
