Ireland- The Land of Liberals and Feminists

Move the thread if its in the wrong place…

They used to call Ireland the Land of Saints of Scholars but I think today it should be renamed the Land of Liberals and Feminists. The Recent MP has been largley ignored in Ireland except by the Bishops who welcome and embrace it but its the Priests and the dreaded Parish Pastorals Coucnils who are rejecting it. The Attitude in Ireland to the MP seems to be. Ah well the Pope is old fashioned and who needs the Pope anyway. The PPC in my Parish was approached about the TLM and they rejected stating that it was an abomination. Now the PPC is mainly mainly made up of Women and the Parish Priest who can out vote him if they choose.

The Archbishop of Dublin Diarmuid Martin had felt the wrath recently because he dedicated a church in the CC mainly for the use of the old Rites. Many felt that this was a step backwards.

I am starting to think that we need another counter reformation in the RCC to rid it of Liberals and Feminists and all those who refuse to teach the True Teachings of Holy Mother Church.

People seem to forget that nothing has changed since V2 even more so now with the MP.
 
It is saddening to hear of the state of the Church in Ireland. I thought Ireland was the stronghold of Catholic orthodoxy in Europe and I expected both the people and the Bishops to welcome the wishes of the Holy Father.

Ireland has always been praised for its adherence to the Catholic faith and it has given the Church many Saints, Bishops, Priests and Nuns - not to mention the scores of lay people.

I was under the impression that Ireland still remained largely devout Catholic but then I guess Ireland has had its fair share of secularisation.

The Church is infested with liberals and dissenters but we must take solace in the fact that Our Lord promised that the gates of hell will not prevail. The liberals hate the Tridentine Mass because it is a remnant of a time when the Catholic world was entirely orthodox and devout. The liberals have sought to change the Church, and they see widespread attendance to the Tridentine Mass as undoing or undermining all that they have worked towards.

The dissenters and liberals will not and cannot win. They have had their time and now their days are numbered. I am hoping for a renewal of faith in the Catholic world and a return to orthodoxy. Eventually Vatican II will be vindicated and people will realise that it was misrepresented and misinterpreted.

The Holy Father has done a great thing in releasing the Tridentine Mass. Many people are against the implementation of the Motu Proprio and we must do all we can to counteract their efforts.

You must stand for orthodoxy in the midst of heresy and liberalism. You must be the change you want to see in the Church.

You should join the Pastoral Council. The liberals are able to influence the Church because they hold positions within the Church. In order to rid the Church of liberalism, orthodox Catholics must gain positions of power. You can help improve the situation in your diocese by getting more involved. Have your say. Don’t let the liberals do all the talking. Your Priest may be under the impression that their liberal views represent the majority of Catholics in your Church. The orthodox Catholics have been silent for too long, their voices have been drowned out by the liberals who occupy positions in the liturgical comittees etc.
 
It is sad to hear that. I love Ireland. I love it’s preamble to its Constitution. It wasn’t that long ago that Ireland wrote these words. I think it was around 1950:

The modernists, liberals and feminists will do what they do best, but I hope there are some in Ireland who will want the Extraordinary Mass and do what they can to get it. How about the Polish is Ireland, are they more traditional, will they help drum up enthusiasm for the the Extraordinary Mass? Does anyone want it? Maybe they don’t even know about it.
 
The AB of Dublin has started a latin mass Chaplincy in Dublin but he got some slack for it. In my own Parish the MP was not even mentioned. It might be an idea to Join the PPC.

I think it’s wrong to generalise about the state of Catholicism in Ireland from just one experience in one parish.

It’s still very early days for the MP. Give it time and maybe people will come around.
 
When I first saw this thread, the first thing I though about was “they are talking about Dublin” :o

I’m US born, but my parents are from Sligo and Mayo, and that is where the large majority of my family still resides. Growing up, I spent every summer in Sligo, or in Ballina, Co. Mayo

I’ve found the liturgies there to be very reverent and well attended. I’ve been to the TLM in Ballina myself, it’s my aunt’s parish church. Nobody there seems to think there is anything unusual about having a TLM. There’s another, regularly scheduled TLM in Castlebar.

So there still is hope for Ireland,… just not Dublin 😛 😉
 
OK, Lets get realistic and optimistic here
  1. In Dublin, there is now a Latin Mass Chaplaincy set up with daily EF mass being celebrated
2)There is daily mass being celebrated for at least the last 5 years if not longer in Islandeady (A traditional Catholic “High School” for boarders) in Co. Mayo

3)There are rumours going around that the EF will move completely to Harrington Street. Hopefully Fr Deighan, who I believe is celebrating this week and usualy his masses are Solemn High Masses, will confirm these rumours this Sunday.

4)Why would one want to have mass in the EF in ones parish if there is already daily mass in the EF, in an easily accesible church in the City Centre?

So really, Ireland has come out with a great bargain.

You should visit other parishes and see what things are really like.
