Tighernach (Tigernake, Tierry, Tierney, Torney) (d. 549)
Abbot and bishop. He was captured and made a slave of an English king, who freed him. After a pilgrimage to Rome he founded Clones Monastery in County Monaghan, Ulster, Ireland, and served as its abbot. He also succeeded St. MacArtan as bishop of Clogher, Ireland. He is known as the Confessor of Clogher. He went blind in his later years and spent his remaining days in prayer and meditation at Clones.
