I am not clearly seeing why this verse invalidates the Catholic Church. A friend has stated the following:
You don’t seem to quite understand that Isa 8:20 clearly says that anyone who teaches contrary to the Ten Commandments is not teaching the truth. Your providing mountains of quotes from early church fathers to justify changing the Sabbath to Sunday does not vindicate this change, they are all rejected by Isaiah 8:20 as not having any light. Neither can the change be justified from the New Testament, as Catholics themselves have clearly recognized:
“… is not every Christian obliged to sanctify Sunday and to abstain on that day from unnecessary servile work? Is not the observance of this law among the most prominent of our sacred duties? But, you may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we never sanctify.”
Isaiah prevents you from proving the 7th day Sabbath commandment change to Sunday has God’s approval.
