Is a bathtub baptism by Grandma valid?

A Catholic friend of mine said she baptized her grandchildren in the bathtub because her son and daughter-in-law wanted to let their kids grow up first. So, she used the trinitarian formula and wants to know if the baptisms are valid. Her son and daughter-in-law didn’t disagree, but just thought the whole thing was silly.
