Is a miracle needed, do you think?

I posted something related to this before. I have a good friend who’s not doing so well in the faith- he’s switching his religion.

Years ago, he was married in a Catholic church and after 3 or so blissful years his wife stopped loving him and they were divorced. Many years after that my friend saw his wife again and he said he was completely unattracted to her.

These two were validly married in the church and now they are living seprate lives, both no longer interested in each other. But as Catholics we know that they are still married. I feel that it would take a miracle for them to both return to the church and could they ever possibly return to each other?

Why do you want them to return to each other.
So long as they don’t remarry or enter into intimate relationships with other people they can still remain in the Church.

Three years of blissful marriage ‘suddenly’ stopped because the love was gone sounds like there was more to the situation. If either one wants to remain in the Church and be open to future relationships then they should at least look into an annulment. If one is denied then at least they’ll know where they stand individually with regard to practicing their faith. They will never be able to enter into another relationship and participate in the Eucharist.

As for miracles…all things are possible…but like so many other divorced Catholics they’ll probably remarry in a Protestant denomination or by a justice of the peace and walk away from the Church.
