Is a priest allowed to celebrate 3 masses on Christmas Day?

I seem to remember when in grade school the nuns telling us that a priest could only celebrate one mass a day except for Christmas when they could celebrate 3 masses. is this correct.

General Instruction of the Roman Missal:

1. For a particular reason, having to do either with the significance of the rite or of the festivity, the faculty is given to celebrate or concelebrate more than once on the same day in the following cases:

c. On the Nativity of the Lord (Christmas Day), all priests may celebrate or concelebrate three Masses, provided the Masses are celebrated at their proper times of day;

The tradition in the Church of priests being permitted to celebrate three Masses on Christmas Day goes back long before the current norms. The three Masses would be Midnight, Dawn, and During the Day. The first definite reference to a priest celebrating three Masses on Christmas dates back to the 12th century.
