To directly kill an innocent human being is never permissible even to save another person. While it is always a tragedy when a mother’s life is placed in jeopardy, and everything should be done to save the mother’s life to the extent that it is legitimately possible, it is a greater tragedy still for a mother, who’s vocation it is to love and nurture her child, to agree to end the life of her unborn child that she may live.
