Is abortion okay for a child who was raped?

A co-worker asked me what the Catholic Church teaches on abortion if a very young girl (say, 10 years old) is raped and becomes pregnant. Would abortion be okat due to her age? I advised her “No” as it is still a human being. She asked what about incest. I still advised “No.” Was I correct in my answers and what would be a good explaination for her to understand our belief?

Your answers were correct. To explain why, you might tell your co-worker that the Church is horrified at the sexual abuse of a young child and condemns it as a grave sin, but that the Church does not believe in executing innocent babies for the crimes of their fathers.
