Is all this pagan holiday stuff about Christmas true?

I was reading a message on a site against Christmas that said St. Nicholas evolved from a pagan sea god and Christmas evolved from the birth of other pagan gods. It said things like Christmas trees and yule logs are pagan, too.

Is this information correct and where can I find the true story?
