I was a little mad that Flo Rida was allowed to perform. His song wasn’t something I’d want a young child to hear, and was just a repetitative sex song all and all. There wasn’t anything artistic about it. He couldn’t even dance. All he did was rip his shirt off and show is steroid muscles.

I was disappointed. I mean, the show is marketed twards very young people and they put on what belongs on SNL.

And the guy who is expected to win is gay. I’m not anti gay, but do not want there to be an openly gay Idol who will be used to promote gay marriagee.
OH MY GOSH!
I totally disagree with you, I did’n’t hear the song as a sex song, but I can see the possible implication and I think that he’s an amazing dancer.
I had never heard of him before but I really like him a lot.
I like Danny Gokey, but Adam has talent and he’ll get his chance at fame as a result of
American Idol.
I don’t care if there’s an openly Gay idol, but it would be sad if there were an openly divorced one, like Mel Gibson (I know he’s not on idol but he’s a celebrity who professes to
be a Catholic and I think that gives the world the wrong message…)

As for theater and homosexuality, if you are involved with theater, you know that there are many in the business who ARE gay. It’s not an ignorant thing to say at all.

That being said, I don’t think anyone can assume that Adam is gay because he dresses a certain way and his pictures are showing up in the gay publications and on the websites. He’s very attractive. I’ll bet that Kris, Anoop, Danny, and Matt have pictures showing up there websites, too, and no one’s saying they’re gay. They’re very attractive men. This is a singing contest and at this point, the sexual orientation doesn’t matter. And as someone else said, the Catholic Church does not condemn homosexuals, but only the practice of homosexual sex.
Back in my day David Bowie did the same thing that Adam’s doing…if I’m not mistaken.
I didn’t like it then but a lot of people did…it’s not the crossdressing that I’m turned off by…oh wait…maybe it is. It seems to be a cheap exploitation of someone else’s struggle for money.

I think the judges are right on with the calls against Lil. And now she is becoming defiant, and that will finish her off. She needs to LISTEN to them and seek the advice of someone who can advise her wisely about songs./quote]

I agree. Lil’s songs choices have been poor. Song choice is everything. When some contestants like Lil start defending themselves after being critiqued, it shows that the ego is getting into the way of the learning process. That will be her downfall.
I agree with both of you and I love Lil! She just isn’t doing as well as she should and I’m afraid that she’s been drinking or something due to the pressure.
No matter what happens, she WILL be on the Idol Tour but she needs to get a grip, this
is a BIG opportunity and fame and fortune won’t tap twice on her door.

I’m guessing she’s under more pressure than any of the other contestants this year.

She has THREE small children, and I imagine that now the care for those children is totally in the hands of her husband, who I think had a job before Idol–I wonder if he still has that job or if he was let go when he opted to bring the kids to Hollywood and follow Lil’s sojourn on the show?

Anyway, it’s really tough for a dad to take total charge of kids (it’s tough for any parent who’s doing it alone). I imagine he calls Lil a lot to ask baby-tending questions, and so her time is divided, unlike the other contestants who can just dive into music all the time. She probably feels guilty that her husband is doing all this work, and she probably feels under tremendous pressure to succeed so that their family doesn’t end up in worse shape financially than they were before Idol. And this pressure creates a creativity block that makes it hard for her to just relax and sing and impress everyone. I personally think she looks like she has gained weight, and her voice is wavery, and those are both signs that she’s not handling this well. And she’s getting defensive about it, and that’s not good. That will hurt her chances of getting signed.

Frankly, I think she’ll find work in the business whether she wins or not. But she and her husband are finding out that the work will involve weeks and months of touring, and that means she’s not around her kids, and THAT’S hard! And the money may not be all that much, unless she does manage to become a huge star. It’s good money, but not great. They are probably wondering if it wouldn’t be better to just turn their back on all this and go back to work, and use her Idol success to get gigs for her in the nightclubs and other venues near their home.

So I feel for Lil, and I wish that the judges would give her a break and slip her some good song choices, or tell the band leader some good suggestions to pass along to her.

Adam Lambert on AI!!! He is the next idol for sure!!! There is something about the eyeliner for me too.

Man he can sing!!! I am not into Rock music, but I will be buying his CD!!! He can sing it all!!!

Love him lots!!!

.
Actually yes it is an ignorant thing to say. The original quote was:

Plus, honestly, after he said in his bio that he had been in musical theater for the last 7 or 8 years… if anyone was shocked he is gay (or might be)… I mean, seriously, come on.

This poster was baisically saying that you can assume a guy who does musical theater is gay.

That is a totally unfair stereo type… there are LOTS of guys who do theater who aren’t gay but everyone ignorantly assumes they are.

I can’t imagine someone saying, “Well of COURSE she is a lesbian… I mean, she said she played basketball in grade school, high school and beyond. I mean SERIOUSLY.”

Nobody would say that - and it shouldn’t be said - even though there is a large portion of adult women baksetball players who are lesbians.
