Just wondering out of curiosity. My friend is a Syro-Malabar Catholic. Can someone explain to me how the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church came about?
Saint Thomas landed in Crangannore, 52 kms away from Cochin, Kerala and Preached the gospel to 8 communities in Kerala and Mylapore. This community had relations with the Assyrian Church of the East till 1552 and was administered by the portuguese archbishop of Goa from 1599. It was separated from the latin hierarchy in1886 and is now a Major Archiepiscopal Church of the Catholic Church, the most populous of the saint thomas christians today.Just wondering out of curiosity.
