Does anyone plan to see this or has anyone already seen it? If so, what do you think? I cannot wait to go see it. This was my parents’ music, so I inherited a love of Johnny Cash from them. My aunt even had a calf she named Johnny Cash (gosh…I can’t believe I just typed that…I know, I just officially labeled myself “redneck”). I love Joaquin Phoenix, ever since I saw him in Signs, and Reese Witherspoon. And I love the fact that Shooter Jennings is playing his father, a young Waylon.

Yes, I definitely plan to see it. Have been a Johnny Cash fan for years!

I’m not a Country Western fan, but I saw “Walk The Line” yesterday and I thought it was an excellent movie. Both Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon did their own singing and they did an awesome job at it. It told the story of how Johnny Cash got started and the romance between he and June Carter. I thought it was very moving.

You won’t be disappointed at all.

I JUST got back from seeing it. I loved it. Both Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon are awesome in it. The singing is great…it almost feels like being at a live concert. The whole movie sucked me in. And I don’t know hardly anything about Johnny Cash. It’s hard to say one was better than the other, because Reese Witherspoon was really really good in it, esp her singing and her ‘comedy’ voice heh, but Joaquin Phoenix just blows you away. Great stuff!

I want to see Walk The Line so badly! But I don’t want to see it alone, my friends have either seen it already or don’t want to see it… or just won’t make plans with me to see it. 😦 But I’ll make one of them take me soon. 😃

I think it’s kind of sad in a way that he’s gotten more fans after he died… well, more like after doing NIN’s cover of “Hurt” (though that song fit Mr. Cash’s past perfectly, that music video was depressing).

I did not particularly like the man, his music or his way of life when he was alive, so I would not watch a movie about it.

I’m with you there, but I did see the movie (dear wife made me), and it was a good movie. I didn’t come out of it with too much sympathy for him except his relationship with his dad, but he’s not the only one who has had that problem.

But like I said, it was a good movie. If you like going to the movie theater rather than watching the DVD, this is one I would recommend. It doesn’t have any sex, almost no violence and relatively little cursing. It does have some very good acting.

Peace

Tim

Yessss! I plan to see it with some friends…we are all Johnny Cash fans and would listen to his music while out camping…just waiting until Friday when we can all go together.😃

I don’t go to the movies very often, but I really just had to see this. We went yesterday and it was fantastic. Really great movie. I’m a big country fan, although not a Cash fan, but I still loved it.

Saw it, loved it.

The reason that it’s such a good movie (besides the acting) is that it is a movie with larger themes. Perseverence, success, failure, the allure and emptiness of money, addiction, love, redemption - wow!

I loved Johnny Cash when I was a little girl!! I don’t like country music but I love him. I loved the movie, it was excellent. My husband said he thought it was great even though he had no desire to see it.

As a Johnny Cash fan I am looking forward to watching this movie. And my favorite actor in the title role! Yes!!! And Reese Witherspoon looks like a great June Carter.

His way of life? Do you mean his drug addiction and stuff like that?
Johnny did quit all that and went on to a much better lifestyle. He became quite religious.

I saw it last Friday. I really enjoyed the movie and I think Mr. Phoenix deserves an Oscar nomination. Ms. Witherspoon has a tendency to just be, well, Reese Witherspoon with long, dark hair but that may be my opinion only because I am not familiar with June Carter’s early career. I enjoyed the movie so much, and thought the scene where Johnny Cash o.d.'s onstage was incredibly realistic! It is a very good movie.
